Music has been a calling as much as a craft — and the story isn’t over. New music from the Longing for Eden mission is on the way; a songwriter from the band and I are finishing songs from those final sessions, along with some new ones. longingforeden.com
Producing & artist development
Under the name HeartSong (1989–present) I’ve worked in artist development and production, with both studio and location recording. Artists and projects have included:
- Longing for Eden — spiritual and musical direction; produced their debut album, Heaven’s Inside Me (2014).
- Nancy Day, Survivor — an album written for survivors of abuse.
- Jay Stenger (country) and Shades of Grey (rock).
- Four allegorical children’s musicals, and founding the Pittsburgh Songwriters Association to help writers grow and reach the industry.
Live sound
I’ve engineered live sound for many touring artists, including:
- Margaret Becker, Wayne Watson, First Call, Geoff Moore and the Distance, Noel Paul Stookey, and Barry McGuire.
- A 1992 live recording of Barry McGuire’s “Kids for Kids” concert at Heinz Hall.
The studio years — AirCraft Communications
As a partner in AirCraft Communications, I worked across commercial and recording projects:
- National commercial work — Weight Watchers, the Pittsburgh Pirates, American Greetings, General Motors, McDonald’s, and more.
- Label artists — the Corbin Hanner Band, Frank Cappelli (four albums, A&M Records), and Kim Ryder.
- Music for Disney’s “Mickey Goes to Moscow,” and the radio program “Pittsburgh Performs.”
I still take the occasional mixing or mastering project close to my heart — if you have one, I’d be glad to hear about it.
